Yippee! He feel asleep on the other side today. I was finally able to cut the long side. Of course he woke up before I was finished, but it looks almost normal now. I can go out in public without worrying about my son's sideways mullet (thanks Nate, for that great description of what it looks like). I just have to even out the sides and shorten the crown of his head. I am pretty proud of how I did. Not bad at all. I don't think I am going to make a career out of this, but until he goes to school, it doesn't really matter if his hair is cut perfect.

Straigt on. You can see that the left side is still longer than the other side, But I should be able to finish that off, along with the crown, tomorrow.
So I tried again today. He woke up yet once again. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. I did get more of the top of his head, but I still need to get that one side. It looks so crazy. Anybody know any good drugs that I can knock him out with?

I hope tomorrow will be the day I can get this all done and looking nice. If not, I am afraid we are going to have to resort to torture, "the clippers".
So today's nap time didn't go quite as I had planned. Beckett threw a good hour long tantrum about not wanting to going to sleep, at least without me in the room. I don't know what all of this is about, but going to sleep is no longer the joy it used to be for him (maybe it has to do with not being home consistently for the last month). So, after listening to that for an hour, I decided to go in and try to calm him down. I held him and stroked his arms and hair. He immediately started to close his eyes. As I was doing this, I started thinking about his hair and how long it was. I thought about how my mom is always the bad guy and cuts his hair for me (I can't really do it because I am the one who has to hold him). Then I got to thinking that if I kept stroking his hair, I might be able to cut his hair without disturbing him and he would sleep right through it. Hair cuts have always been a nightmare for him. As soon as it was pretty obvious he was going to go to sleep, I put him back in his bed and kept stroking his hair until he was out. Then I went and got a comb and scissors. It went okay. I think I did okay with my first scissors hair cut. The only problem was that after I cut the one side, I tried to role him over to cut the other and he woke up. So, here are the results of the haircut:

I don't think I did a very bad job on what I did get done, considering this is the first time I have used a pair of scissors to cut some one's hair. It looks kind of like I cut some places close to the scalp, but those spots are actually just really blond spots or thin areas of his hair. I'm going to fix the other side tonight or tomorrow at nap time. I'll post pictures of how it all turns out. If all else fails, I am going to just buzz it all off and he will just have to look like a cancer patient again, like his last haircut.
I was the extremely lucky person to go with my wonderful Aunt Karen, to see the play Wicked about a week and a half ago. I love, love, loved it! It was one of the best plays ever!! I love all the pre-"Wizard of Oz" explanations and stuff. It was such a cool story and then the music was amazing. "Defying Gravity" is my favorite song. I am getting goosebumps just thinking about it. "For Good" is a good song too, but it just doesn't have the electrifying effect of "Defying Gravity".
The cast was amazing too. We sat next to a couple that had seen it in New York (she thought it was with the original cast that had Kristen Chenowith) and in Chicago and she said this cast was the best she had ever seen. The woman that played Glenda was hilarious. I loved her. She did such a good job at tossing her hair. What a riot?!
If you ever get the chance to go and see this play, you should. Even my brother that hates all musicals except for "Les Mis", liked this one. It was amazing!!! Oh, I just am so excited thinking about that show. I guess it is a little late to say this now that the show is gone, but go see it if you get the chance like if you go to LA or New York. It is great for kids, might be a little scary with the flying monkeys though. They had wire hair in our show. Creepy is all I have to say about that. But they don't come out into the audience, so maybe it wont be too bad for the kiddos.
Anyways, I just wanted to say how much I loved this show and tell my aunt one more time how grateful I am she took me. Your the best, Karen! Anytime you want to go again, just let me know.
