I can spell cat, C-A-T

On New Years Eve, my parents, Matt, and I were playing Bananagrams, which is basically speed scrabble, but you are playing by yourself against everybody else (I hope that makes sense). Beckett came over and started flipping over the unused tiles. Of course we were like, "No, stop doing that. We need those tiles turned over." But then the kid out of no where spells CAT. At first we heard him just say the word, and I thought to myself, "Oh, he is just seeing the letters and thinking of the Leap Frog show we checked out from the Library a few weeks ago." Then my mom looked over and said, "He just spelled cat!" The game stops and we can't believe what we were seeing. I was just in amazement of my son. He hasn't even gone to preschool yet and he has started to spell. I thought that was pretty incredible. Letting your kids watch educational shows really does pay off.

Then tonight, we were at a friend's house. They had a bunch of magnet letters on their fridge. Beckett started spelling like crazy. He spelled KIT, KEY and CAT, and I could tell he wanted to keep going, but he couldn't recognize all the letters because they were lowercase and he is used to uppercase. I couldn't believe it though. My son can spell! This is one of those times that you feel like parenting really is worth all the trouble and hard work.

Dude, go Beckett! Don't you love Leapfrog movies? The Letter factory is my favorite. And I know exactly what you mean about parenting, seeing your kids learn and grow is so amazing. It makes all the craziness worth it.
